If your new iphone 4 is dropping almost every call you make, the issue is most likely that you are using it left handed.
What?!
Yep.
The metal band around the outside of the new Iphone 4 is actually several different antennas – wifi, bluetooth, and cell signal.
When you touch the bottom left part of the Iphone 4 with you left palm and the right side of the Iphone with your fingers you are shorting out the antennas.
Seriously.
So, what does Apple say you should do about it? Their response is that you should hold the Iphone 4 with your right hand or get a case.
Bummer.
I won’t argue that a protective case is a great idea for your new Iphone, but I for one, would be pretty pissed off if I had just paid for a new bad-ass Iphone 4 and it didn’t work in my left hand.
There have been rumors of Apple stores giving out free bumper cases that shield the antennas to people who are in line for the new Iphone 4. And that would be the tactic I would take, too, to remedy this situation. With a little patience and demeanor I would approach an Apple store employee and ask for a free case and explain that you are left-handed. They obviously know there is an issue here.
But if you don’t want to rush back to an Apple store just yet, here are some nice, cheap cases:
